7/31/11 NEW BALDWIN PARK DOGS NEED RESCUE/ADOPTION!

A4312100 Canela is an ebullient one and a half year old brown and tan female Miniature Pinscher mix puppy who was forsaken at the Baldwin Park shelter with her sister, Brownie (A4312099) on July 16th because her former owner claimed dog licenses cost too much. Weighing thirteen pounds this energetic girl walks okay on leash, seems to have had some training and is likely housebroken. Great with children and other dogs, this sweetheart of a puppy has energy to burn and can jump quite high. Canela is going to make an excellent companion for a family living in an apartment or a private home.

A4312099 Brownie is an energetic one and a half year old brown and tan female purebred Miniature Pinscher puppy who was dumped at the Baldwin Park shelter with her sister, Canela (A4312100) on July 16th because her former owner said dog licenses cost too much. Weighing twelve pounds this athletic girl walks okay on leash, seems to have had some training and is likely housebroken. A4311608 Macy is an exceptionally sweet and soulful one year old brown female Beagle/Whippet mix puppy who was found as a stray in Hacienda Heights with Asta (A4311606) and brought to the Baldwin Park shelter on July 15th. Weighing twenty-three pounds, Macy walks well on leash and seems to have had training. She loves people and will search out the first available lap and climb right into it. Macy is strongly bonded with Asta, and we would love to see them adopted together if possible. Macy will be a spectacular indoor pet for anyone in any living situation, and we think she will be excellent with kids. A4311606 Asta is an exceptionally sweet and soulful one year old white and brown female Beagle/Whippet mix puppy who was found as a stray in Hacienda Heights with Macy (A4311608) and brought to the Baldwin Park shelter on July 15th. Weighing twenty-three pounds, Asta walks well on leash and seems to have had training. She loves people and will search out the first available lap and climb right into it. A4311563 Misty is a sensational three year old black and brown female purebred Rottweiler who was found in Baldwin Park on July 15th and brought to the shelter. Weighing one hundred and four pounds this well-adjusted girl walks beautifully on leash, seems to have had some training, and is well-socialized. She takes her treats extremely gently and does not exhibit any resource guarding which is often present in her breed. Misty has been introduced to a few dogs at the shelter and has been non-reactive with all of them. Misty will make an outstanding indoor pet for a family living in a private home. A4311470 Riccardo is a teddy bear of a five year old white and apricot male Shih Tzu who was found in Baldwin Park on July 15th and brought to the shelter. Weighing fourteen pounds, Riccardo walks perfectly on leash and was clearly someone‟s well-loved, well-trained indoor pet. Riccardo gets along well with other dogs and has a nice, medium energy level. Super soft and cuddly, Riccardo will be a phenomenal companion for a senior citizen as well as a perfect pet for a family or individual in any living situation. A4311201 Natalie is a playful one year old black and brown female Belgian Malinois/Siberian Husky mix puppy who was found as a stray in Baldwin Park and brought to the shelter on July 14th. Weighing forty-five pounds, Natalie is a spectacularly beautiful puppy with unique and lovely markings. She is quiet and good with other dogs (she kisses them!) and is equally affectionate with people. Natalie may have a broken front left paw, and, although she walks okay on it, should have this checked by a veterinarian. Natalie will be the perfect indoor pet for an active individual or family living in a private home.

A4310942 Sassy is a cooperative two year old white spayed female Parson Russell Terrier mix who came to the Baldwin Park shelter as a stray on July 14th. Weighing sixteen pounds, Sassy walks beautifully on leash and seems to be trained. She seems to have been well cared for, and has a healthy coat. Friendly with other dogs, Sassy has a remarkably perfect energy level, and is much calmer than most Parson Russell Terriers. With an all-around good temperament, Sassy will be a wonderful indoor pet for anyone in any living situation.

A4310527 Otto is a magnificent one year old black and brown purebred male German Shepherd puppy who was found wandering the streets on July 13th and brought to the Baldwin Park shelter. Weighing seventy-eight pounds, Otto hasn‟t had formal training yet but he is eager to please, and quite attentive to his handler, so he will be a quick study. Otto loves to roll over into your lap and cuddle. Low key and mellow, this is an exceptional dog. Otto will be a perfect indoor pet for an individual or family living in a private home.

A4310310 Levi is a gentle two year old white male Terripoo who was dumped at the Baldwin Park shelter with his sister, Carmel (A4310309) on July 12th because his former owners did not want to pay their licensing fees. Weighing almost twelve pounds this handsome boy walks okay on leash and appears to have had some training. When we took him into the play yard Levi demonstrated a bit of a playful side and raced around madly. Levi will make a tremendous pet for an individual or family living in an apartment or condo.

A4310309 Carmel is a placid three year old white spayed female Terripoo who was forsaken at the Baldwin Park shelter with her brother, Levi (A4310310) on July 12th because her former owners did not want to pay their licensing fees. Weighing barely eight pounds this gentle, mild-mannered girl walks okay on leash and appears to have had a bit of training. Carmel is quite shut down at the shelter, but perks up when she is placed in your lap, or is in the company of other dogs. Carmel is going to make a fantastic companion for a senior citizen or an outstanding pet for an individual or family living in an apartment or condo.

A4309639 Nina is a ridiculously adorable three year old tan spayed female Shih Tzu/Brussels Griffon mix who was returned to the Baldwin Park shelter by a previous adopter on July 25th because she had a slight case of kennel cough. Weighing ten pounds, Nina was described by our volunteer as “thirty pounds of love in a ten pound body”. Nina walks well on leash, but prefers to be held, hugged and carried like the snuggly little princess she is. Nina will be the ideal indoor pet for anyone in any living situation. A4308207 Dirk is a low-key three year old brown and black neutered male Wirehaired Dachshund who was found as a stray in Baldwin Park and brought to the shelter on July 7th. He walks perfectly on leash and has clearly been trained. He has so many endearing qualities - he is submissive, gentle taking treats, patient with children, and great with other dogs. He also loves to give kisses and has a playful side. Dirk will be a wonderful indoor pet for anyone in any living situation. A4296918 Willie Mays is a spectacular eight month old gray male Pit Bull mix puppy who was brought to the Baldwin Park shelter as a stray on June 19th from West Covina. Weighing forty pounds, Willie Mays is a staff favorite who has passed his shelter temperament test with flying colors. He was supposed to be adopted, but his adopter never returned to get him from the shelter. Willie Mays walks okay on leash but hasn‟t had any real training yet. He is responsive and eager to please, and adapts quickly. Willie Mays is a happy, easygoing puppy who will be a wonderful indoor family pet for a family living in a private home.

A4130251 Lulu is a sweet, submissive two year old blue merle and white female Australian Shepherd who was surrendered to the Baldwin Park shelter on July 17th because her former owner said she “needed too much attention.” Weighing forty-one pounds, Lulu is perfect - our volunteer described her as “A+” and “they don‟t come any easier than this”. Lulu walks beautifully on leash and appears fully trained. Gentle and mild-mannered, Lulu will be an ideal indoor pet for anyone in any living situation, and we think she‟d be especially good with kids.

A4078713 Ozzie is a spectacular nearly two year old white and brown male purebred English Coonhound who was an owner surrender at the Baldwin Park shelter on July 26th. Weighing seventy-eight pounds, Ozzie walks quite well on leash, is well socialized and is probably housebroken. A year and a half ago, when Ozzie was four months old, he bit someone - but we think it was more of a situation where he was puppy mouthy rather than anything aggressive. A3916563 Britney is a wonderful three year old black and brown spayed female Chihuahua/Dachshund mix who was recently adopted from the Baldwin Park shelter, but was returned on July 20th because she had kennel cough. Weighing eighteen pounds, she is a bit porky and could use more exercise and less food. Britney walks okay on leash and rolls over for a belly rub at the first hint of human attention. She is an absolute sweetheart who loves everybody and everything - people, dogs, treats, walking, running, sitting on your lap. Britney is the perfect indoor pet for anyone in any living situation and would be great companionship for a senior. A3534219 Chico is a determined seven year young tan neutered male shorthaired Chihuahua mix who was dumped at the Baldwin Park shelter by his former owners on July 2nd because they were moving. Weighing fifteen pounds, Chico walks well on leash, appears to have had some training and is most likely housebroken. He gets along well with other dogs and is equally wonderful with children. A1664590 Ice is a calm nine year old white male American Eskimo dog who was surrendered to the Baldwin Park shelter on July 25th because his former owner could not afford to keep a pet. Weighing thirty-seven pounds, Ice walks beautifully on leash and has clearly had training. Ice has some kind of a skin condition (possibly hyperthyroidism, which is easily and cheaply treated) affecting his back legs and belly, which seemed to be causing him discomfort, but he was affectionate and looking for attention despite this. Ice is a sweet senior who deserves to live the rest of his life as a well-loved indoor pet. Ice will be a wonderful companion for any living situation.
